Protein: an essential nutrient for our organism!

Did you know protein is an essential nutrient for our body? They are one of our body’s main resources to keep a healthy organism. In fact, all of our vital molecules are built from the amino acids that they provide.

The word protein comes from the Greek word “proteios”, which means ‘fundamental importance’.

Knowing this, we can definitely discard wrong ideas and myths that protein supplements are only good for athletes, or that they make us gain weight, overload our kidneys, etc.

In fact, among the macronutrients – proteins, fats and carbs – protein is the best nutrient to provide satiety, with less calories and is a major contributor to body fat loss and a healthier body composition.

There are several foods that can guarantee this body need and with the significant rise of plant based options there are even more opportunities for every type of lifestyle/businesses.

Meet our Ora-Pró-Nóbis, the plant with an old nickname known as “poor people’s meat”. This is because they say that disadvantaged people would use this plant as a dietary supplement.

Worldwide behavior changes:

Did you know? According to the Rethinking Food and Agriculture Report, it is expected that by 2030 modern food processes will not only produce food that is cheaper than animal-derived products, but superior in every conceivable way: quality, taste, structure, nutrition, and impact on the environment and society.

In fact, industrial animal production is seen as a major contributor to many pressing environmental problems, including climate change, deforestation, habitat and biodiversity loss. Therefore, because of the enormous ecological footprint of livestock on the world’s landscape, the modern food disruption presents the greatest opportunity for environmental restoration in human history!

It is expected that by 2030, higher quality and more nutritious food will become cheaper and more accessible for everyone. In the developing world in particular, access to cheap protein will have a huge and positive impact on hunger, nutrition and health in general.
