Rio Innovation Week and Introduction to Vegan Nutrition

From August 13th to 18th, Horta da Terra immersed itself in a world of innovation and sustainability. At the renowned Rio Innovation Week (#RIW24), we were introduced to revolutionary applications of Artificial Intelligence and had the honor of being recognized as one of the success stories in Circular Economy by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

The experience was enriching, with interactive installations that connected us to the future of art and entertainment. Simultaneously, our partnership with the Brazilian Vegetarian Society allowed us to promote veganism and the importance of PANCs (Unconventional Food Plants) in an immersion for health professionals.

Throughout these days, we had the opportunity to share our knowledge on regenerative and syntropic agriculture, as well as offer tastings of our super ingredients. Our participation in events like these reinforces our commitment to promoting Amazonian biodiversity and a healthier, more sustainable diet for all.

During the lecture presented by our partners at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Horta da Terra was highlighted as one of the success stories in Circular Economy, which means being part of a resilient and positive system for both people and the environment. Circular economy consists of a framework of systemic solutions that address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution.

It is certainly a great satisfaction to be part of this group of companies that are making a significant impact towards a sustainable future for all living beings on the planet through best practices in regenerative and syntropic agriculture. With this, we continue with our purpose of promoting Amazonian biodiversity by providing anyone on the planet access to the medicinal, functional, and nutritional powers of plants.

In the last days of the week in question, we continued as sponsors of the event held at the FIRJAN house – RJ. The partnership with the Brazilian Vegetarian Society was fundamental in spreading knowledge about PANCs and the benefits of a vegan diet for health and the environment. Through lectures and tastings, we managed to inspire students and health professionals to adopt more sustainable habits.

The immersion for students and medical professionals featured lectures from the illustrious Dr. Marcelo Fizsman (lifestyle physician), Ale Luglio (nutritionist), Paula Gandin (nutritionist), and Thaisa Navolar (maternal and child nutritionist).

With topics related to Veganism in the 21st Century, Veggie Foods, Ethics and Environmental Responsibility, Micro and Macronutrients, Vegetarianism and Sports, Vegetarianism in Disease Prevention and Reversal, Interpretation of Laboratory Tests, and Maternal-Child Vegetarianism, the event provided a complete experience for those interested in specializing or learning more about the subject.

Introduction to Vegan Nutrition Event

During the event, Horta da Terra delighted more than 400 visitors with tastings of teas made with our super ingredients from Amazonian biodiversity. The interested audience also had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the value of our PANCs (Unconventional Food Plants) and the myriad of possible applications in functional foods, beverages, gourmet recipes, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and phytotherapeutics, as well as other wellness industry products.

More specifically, we offered tastings of our freeze-dried powdered Jambu, Chicory, and Vinagreira.

For those who don’t know our Super Foods yet:

Jambu, a native Amazonian plant, is a functional food with an impressive nutritional profile. Rich in vitamin C and containing spilanthol, the compound responsible for the tingling sensation, jambu offers a variety of health benefits. In addition to being used in regional cuisine, it has gained prominence in the industry for its vasodilating properties, which can enhance physical performance and aid in muscle mass gain. Its diuretic properties make it an ally for those looking to manage their weight. Furthermore, jambu has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and rejuvenating potential, being explored in various areas such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Chicory was also a hit! Besides being a versatile condiment in cooking, it is a true nutritional and medicinal treasure. Rich in inulin, a type of fiber that benefits gut health and may help prevent cancer, chicory is also a source of antioxidants that fight free radicals and protect cells. With calming and anti-inflammatory properties, it helps control cholesterol, strengthens the immune system, and can be an ally for those looking to lose weight and build muscle. Additionally, it is rich in minerals such as calcium, iron, and potassium, essential for the body’s proper functioning. Include chicory in your diet through teas, juices, soups, salads, and other dishes to enjoy all its benefits.

And finally, our Vinagreira, a medicinal plant native to the Amazon, is a true treasure for those seeking a healthier and more active life. Rich in nutrients and antioxidants, this Brazilian superfood offers numerous health benefits, especially for those who engage in physical activities. Vinagreira aids in weight loss through its diuretic action and helps control blood sugar levels. Moreover, its anti-inflammatory properties and high protein content contribute to muscle recovery and enhanced athletic performance. Versatile, vinagreira can be incorporated into various recipes, such as salads, juices, and teas, or consumed in capsules. By including vinagreira in your diet, you are investing in a healthier life and a stronger, more resilient body.

Great learning and strengthening of partnerships!

In summary, it was an intense and rewarding week for Horta da Terra during Rio Innovation Week (#RIW24). In addition to exploring innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence, we stood out as an exemplary Circular Economy case by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. This enriching experience not only connected us to the future of art and entertainment but also strengthened our commitment to Amazonian biodiversity and sustainable nutrition. By sharing our knowledge in regenerative and syntropic agriculture during the Vegetarian Society event and showcasing our super ingredients through tastings, we reaffirmed our role in building a healthier and more conscious future for everyone!
